Protocols: Negative Ion Therapy

Psychoactive

Description: Negative ions (a group of 4 - 12 gaseous molecules clustered around a electrically charged atom or molecule of gas) are generated by energy acting on a molecule resulting in ejection of electron. Displaced electron attaches to nearby molecule which then becomes negative ion. Negative ions are highly mobile do not remain in an environment long once the source is removed.

Method of Action: May stimulate increase in brain serotonin levels. Promote alpha brain waves and increase brain wave amplitude. Increase oxygen utilization by body.

Indications and Usage: Seasonal Affective Depression (SAD); Mild to Moderate Depression; Mild to Moderate Anxiety; Irritability; Allergies and Asthma; Insomnia and other Sleep Disorders; Disinfection of Air; Some Headaches; Burn and Wound Healing; Some Pain Conditions

Contraindications: Do not use this product if you are pregnant or lactating without first seeking advice from your physician. Use with caution if you are taking a serotonergic drug including 5-HTP and Hypericum Perforatum and any SSRI or SRI allopathic medications.

Dosage and Administration: 30 minutes of exposure to generator producing 2,700,000 ions/cubic centimeter in radius 35 inches within one hour of waking in morning. Negative ion generator should be placed at least 35 inches from walls and away from electronic devices, ventilation ducts or grounded surfaces. Windows and doors should be kept closed in immediate area during treatment session. Breath slowly through nose during as much of treatment as possible. Try not to rest a part of you body on the same surface area (e.g. table) that the negative ion generator is resting on.

Clinical Effect In: Moderate effect in 10 days. Significant effect in 20 days for 58% of patients.

Adverse Reactions: May cause paradoxical agitation in some persons if duration of exposure is increased beyond normal dosage above. Known Interactive Effects: May have additive effect when combined with SSRI drugs, or other pharmacological or herbal treatments for depression or anxiety.

Additional Considerations: Generator must produce less than .05 parts per million of ozone (FDA limit). Generator unit should cycle at 25 Hz or below. Environmental air ion levels vary greatly from over 2,000 per cm3 by the seashore to 10 per cm3 in cities. Negative ions are most prevalent in areas around moving water, pine trees, and asparagus ferns.
